I have been tasked to create a World Aid Day poster which associates with ending stigma and comon misconceptions about HIV. I decided to go with something symbolic, a Lantern that signifies hope and ”shining light” on the situation. It symbolises that Aids is not a death sentence and that the ribbon (which is incorporated as a handle in the composition) is being used to compete against the disease.
I used a Drawing Tablet to paint, starting from a simple sketch to adding shading slowly. Giving it an almost impressionist style which was contrasting and eye striking to the viewer. The more blue, cooler colours does not detract from the main focus of the image; the ribbon which is the centre of the cause.
I then made a pen portrait to write alongside my poster, informing the people who would view my poster a bit about myself and the meaning behind my creation.
